I know my family has trouble buying me gifts. Other than offering me the basic necessities that I ignore buying myself, I know I can be a picky person. This Valentine's day my husband surprised me with an orchard. Well by surprised I mean I was surprised that he actually did one of my crazy ideas!! My dad retired an old excavator to the family property and that opened up a world of land clearing with efficiency that we never expected. The previous owners of our property had a pumpkin patch in an area that we have neglected ( no time!!). This area is already fenced from deer and has excellent sun exposure, so Rick spent a day and cleared out all of the brush out of this area. I am sure the people living behind us were super happy to see that mess gone!

Then the planting began. I picked up 15 fruit trees from a local store and 2 walnut trees to start my orchard. I still have room for about 6 more but I will choose those at a later date. We dug the holes, placed bone meal at the base as well as a large bucket full of Sea Soil mixed right up to the roots.
So handy, that man!!
Of course everyone helped out including Devin who delivered the Sea Soil to each tree.
This was the best gift I could have asked for!! Thanks to my entire family for making this possible. Now to plant with Sea Soil and grass seed and visualize laying on a blanket under a big strong apple tree! Happy wife= Happy life!!
